At the end of the rainy season, when the sandstones field above the Soi Sawan Waterfall is damp enough, seasonal plants that have been long in slumber under the rocks will begin budding all across this spacious flowering meadow. The tiny insect-eating buds of “Soi Sawan” begin sprouting and using their yellow petals as pouches to catch insects along with them. Other pungent-colored flowers such as the dark purple Dusita (myrtles) and little “white silver button” flowers (in the same family of daisies) are scattered like little stars all over the field. The flower field above the waterfall is truly a paradise for flower lovers.

A true paradise is the words we uttered when zipping down the tent in the morning amidst a field of flowers laying underneath a pine canopy. One can enjoy a long walk up to Phu Soi Dao for an entire afternoon. The camping site near the pine field is the most beautiful spot in all of Phu Soi Dao. It is an unassuming beauty at the beginning of rainy season in August when the sweet purple Murdannia Giganteum are in bloom underneath the floating mist. The whole atmosphere creates a dream-like, romantic feel against the backdrop of the pine trees like the paradise in your reach.

Suddenly an eagle darkened the sky. Its bright black, almost violet feathers made a moving curtain between clouds and earth.
